Phoenix Linux User's Group (PLUG) InstallfestStart: 2010 Jan 30 - 10:00 Where: University of Advancing Technology: 2625 W. Baseline Tempe, AZ 85283 The "monthly" Installfest is co-sponsored by PLUG and the AZloco. It is held the last Saturday of the month January through October. If one is held for November and December it is generally held on a Saturday early in December. RSVP: InstallFest@PLUG.phoenix.az.us Who: Anyone who wants to see Linux or run it on their computer. Installations can sometimes take over two hours, please arrive within the first few hours. We will also help with installing Free Software applications such as Firefox, OpenOffice.org, the GIMP, Blender and Inkscape on other operating systems. perl gigsPerl Programmers... PLUGdev presentation by Jeff Savit(Sun) on OpenSolaris - rm 203 UAT2009 Dec 3 - 19:30 2009 Dec 3 - 21:00 Etc/GMT-7 Our final meeting and presentation for 2009 is December 3rd and we are very happy to have Jeff Savit from Sun Microsystems* presenting on OpenSolaris. Title: OpenSolaris Jeff Savit will describe Sun Microsystems' open sourced OpenSolaris operating, show its relationship to the Solaris 10, and describe some of its more interesting and unique features, such as DTrace, Solaris Containers, Crossbow network virtualization, CIFS and COMSTAR iSCSI services, OpenHA cluster. Other features for datacenters and for developers will be discussed. * OpenSolaris and Solaris *This should be a very interesting presentation, especially when you consider that OpenSolaris & Solaris will likely be "the" cross platform Oracle solution (IMHO) in the not so distant future (with or without the EC). Nov-Dec InstallfestA notification went out tonight about an Installfest scheduled for 11/28. I do not know how that originated but it was in error. The Installfest for November and December is scheduled for 12/5 from 10am to 4pm at UAT. Everything is the same except the date since we never do the last Saturday in November or December.
